The Opinions This Season Has Crafted

Each football season has brought new stories — new heroes rise, old heroes fall, and supporters everywhere have strong opinions. The 2024–25 campaign has been no exception. From teenage prodigies shining on the biggest platforms to arguments over who really has a place in the Champions League, the football world has had plenty to say. Some of these opinions are valid, some are contentious, and some. well, they’re just plain bold. In this blog, I’ll be breaking down some of the most talked-about opinions from this season — along with a few of my own hot takes. Let’s get into it.

1) lamine Yamal is the best player at 17 years ever

Well, I get where people are coming from and I dont think this opinion is entirely flawed, but in my opinion Messi at 17 was probably better but we could not see much of him, so I think its fair to say that YES Lamine Yamal is the best player at 17 years of age.

I mean just look at the stats you can even comapre them to the two goats when they were 17 years of age. I dont think there is any other player who has played 100 games at the tender age of 17. From now its all about if Barca can keep him safe because he definitely has the potential to become one of the greatest ever.

But its too early to say that, even Ansu Fati was considered as the NEXT MESSI, so I think is better for us to let Lamine be Lamine rather than comparing him to Messi.

2)Alessandro Bastoni is the best Defender in

 the world

Now I have been reading this a lot after Inter's win over  Barcelona in probably the greatest UCL semi final ever. And I think Bastoni quite deserves that shout, he is atleast top 3 best defenders in the world. His ball carrying abilty too is just too good, while best in the world is still debatable beacuse of the likes of Van Dijk and William Saliba. I guess atleast in the Serie A he is the best defender.Italy continues to produce world class defenders, what sets Bastoni apart though is his elite ball playing abilities.

3)Europa Leauge Winners should not qualify for Champions Leauge

Now I know why people are saying this but let me get this staright
I dont agree with this(I am a united fan so I might be biased).
I think the controversy came up first when Arsenal Legend Arsene
Wenger gave this opinion and since now United and  Spurs are in the
UEL final everyone seems to agree. Now one thing is pretty clear that
both United and Spurs are no way near the level of Champions Leuage
and both have had a arguably their worst ever season in recent times. With that being said
the point of second divison is to be a ticket to the top division. The whole
point is to have a second route. And lets also take example of Villareal.
Theu won the europa leauge in a season where they finished 8 and the
following season performed very well reaching the semis and being the best
underdog story of recent times. Also, the even though spurs and united
have prduced sub par perfomances in the leauge they have been pretty solid
in UEL, Man United for example are still only unbeaten team in europe.

MY HOT TAKES BASED ON THIS SEASON

1) Bruno Fernandes is among the top 5 midfielers in the World

You could say that since I am a United fan thats why i am saying this but
here me out. Stats dont lie, Bruno Fernades has 19 goals and 19 assist this'
seasons at the time of writing this, 19 asssits with an extremely underperforming
striker. Without Bruno Manchester United would probably have been in the
relegation battle right now.

2) Ball Playing Goalkeepers are overrated(Kinda)

So before you pounce on me I only mean to say that goalkeeprs should be
only judged through their shot stopping, however today some people take
ball playing abilty as a major factor, what I would like toi say is that could be
true but only for teams who have the startegy of playing out from the back
like Mnachester City

3) This year Serie A was more exciting than PL

Well I dont think this should be a 'hot take' but still...
In terms of style of play, Most top Serie A teams are not playing stereotypical
park the bus haram ball, average goals scored per game is nearly same in PL
and Serie A

In terms of title race, obviously Serie A is wayy more entertaining this season, I mean the title race is still not over where as in prem Arsenal could not give as tough competition to Liverpool

Before wrapping up what I would like to say is that we dont actally realise but the media and pundits play a massive role in shaping most of these opinions and most of these media houses and pundits are quite biased so try to watch games and form your own opinions

That wraps up our look at some of the key opinions forming in the 2024–25 football season. Football always sparks debate, and this season is no different with strong opinions on players, teams, and even tournament formats. Whether you agree or disagree, these opinions show just how much passion the game ignites. As the season unfolds, new stories, moments, and takes will continue to emerge. It’s what makes football so exciting. I’d love to hear your thoughts — feel free to share your opinions in the comments. Until next time, let’s keep the conversation going!

Why Defending the Champions League Title Is So Rare: A Look at the Past 20 Seasons

INTRODUCTION We all know that the UEFA Champions League is the greatest club competition of all time, and it is the hardest to win as well. We hv the Champions league final coming up in a few days: PSG VS INTER. These are relatively new teams(of course Inter is playing 2nd final in 3 years but still).  But I had a question hwo often does it happen that the winner retains the title and does that club perform on a similar level. Well we all know that Real Madrid have won three titles in a row in the seasons 2015-16, 2016-17 and 2017-18. We are going to look at the last 20 Champions league winners and see how teams fared next season. In the last 20 Champions League campaigns, Real Madrid have been the most successful club winning it on 6 occasions and the ONLY team to defend the title in the last 20 UCL campaigns when they did a 3 peat as mentioned earlier. In fact they are the ONLY club in the Champions League era(when it was renamed to Champions league from European Cup) to e...

Hidden Gems of 2025:Most underrated and overlooked players this season

INTRODUCTION- In a campaign packed with breathtaking goals, record-breaking statistics, and super-stardom controversy, it's easy to forget the unsung heroes—the players who don't grab the headlines but are indispensable every time they put on their boots. While the limelight remains glued to the typical superstars, there's a whole cast of footballers who've been putting in performances that deserve great accolades, yet go under the radar. These are the guys who don't always go viral on social media but without whom their team would be half as good. They make the hard tackles, set the pace, make intelligent passes, and open up space for the stars to sparkle. They might not chalk up crazy goal counts, but they add balance, brains, and grit to every game. Be it a full-back shutting down world-class wingers week in and week out, a midfielder who quietly dominates the match, or a striker who labors tirelessly off the ball—these underappreciated players are the pillars ...
