Manchester United Vs Tottenham Hotspur : Europa League Final post match review and Reaction

MAN UNITED  VS  SPURS

   EUROPA LEAGUE FINAL 2024-2025

So yeah, Spurs won 1-0 in the Europa League final in Bilbao.

It was the most important match for both the clubs, as they had a terrible, terrible season and Europa League is the only thing they were fighting for and only way they could qualfy for UEFA Champions League and the only way the could salvage the season, and Spurs came out on top.

And here's my honest opinion, but yeah I could be heavily biased because I am a United fan.

Before I would like to start my review(rant😅), I would say that the quality was very bad and did not feel like a European final, so I feel sorry for all the neutral fans who watched the whole match

First things first i want to talk about the line-up that Ruben Amorim went with.(and then come to Spurs)

I am not saying Amorim should be sacked or anything like that but a European final is not a match to experiment in your line-ups, you just cannot take this big of gambles in a season defining final.

Yes, United need to stand by the manger, but its also important to criticize where ist necessary, in today's match he made some sevre blunders.

I was very suprised by Luke Shaw starting in trhe defense, In my opinion he looked kind of scrappy at the back and the goal that eventually was conceded, Luke Shaw was involved in that.

Also, there is no doubt in the fact that Bruno Fernandes, and he SHOULD play further up, in my opinion Bruno should play up there at the front with Amad Diallo and Manuel Ugarte should have probably started along with Casemiro the pivot. I felt that Amad in first half was only viable threat in first half for Manchester United, in second, he was not as good.

Why on Earth was Ugarte on the bench for 90 minutes, that for me is a blunder, even the subs that were made - I think they were delayed it, I personally think Amorim should have made some changes at half time itslef.

In the first half whatever was done was done by Amad Diallo and United needed the same thing on other falnk as well, Alejandro Garnacho did that when he came on later in the second half.

I don't think there was any kind of urgency in United's play. There was just sideways passing after sideways passing which resulted into absolutely nothing.

Now for that goal, it was not Andre Onana's fault, but he will most probably go on to loose his position to a new signing.

I would like to mention that I am upset with all the players but I guess Dorgu had a decent game, he stopped a few counter attacks

About Bruno, yes he was bad probably very bad and did not step up but so were other players he had a abd game but he was also let down by his teammates. So I don't think its right to just outright blame him for this loss.

Richarlison was quite good for the time he was, he worked his socks off, just constantly tracking back, yes a little bit dirty but he worked hard, same for Solanke and every other Spurs player.

Brenan Jhonson also, man what a player, he was doing everything, tracking back, wiining balls making runs, pressing and also scoring the match's winning goal

Spurs litreally just sat back and defended for second 45 minutes, it just seemed that they wanted it more.

I mean how could you have 73% possession and not score a goal, nothing to take away from Spurs but United were genuinely AWFUL. United made 512 passes compared to Tottenham Hotspur's 187 passes, that is laughable.

This might sound like a rant but this is what i feel right now, they had 1 big chance and converted, United had 3 but none of them went in.

16 total shots from United, yes 16 shots.

Another thing that I would like to add about United's play was they were playing kind of very safely, I mean players were not making riskier passes.

But I would like to take this oppurtunity to appreciate Spurs and Ange Postecoglu. In the second half they did not play their normal high pressing, high line football rather defended like brave hearts and honestly they probably deserved it more the way they played.

And that Absolutely INSANE GOAL LINE CLEARANCE FROM MICKEY VAN DE VEN.

Also that last minute save from Vicario, wow just wow.

Also I feel so good for Heung-Min Son, true club legend, he deserved it more than anyone else, litreally every superstar Spurs produced left the club but he stayed and now lifted a European title.

I also would like to speak about Ange. He came and gave a statement at the start of the season -

"I always win things in my second season"

and oh boy he delivered, and delivered a European trophy.

Now they will play Champions League football, for Manchester United, they will need to have a long summer and Ruben Amorim will need to have a good summer with players who can actually fit his system, I really know whats next now, United hans cannot just expect anything for next season beacuse Amorim will need time to change things.

So yeah, congratulations to all my fellow Spurs fans, this trophy, they were waiting for this for god knows how many years, and to my fellow United fans we will have to take banter for a very long time now.

Why Defending the Champions League Title Is So Rare: A Look at the Past 20 Seasons

INTRODUCTION We all know that the UEFA Champions League is the greatest club competition of all time, and it is the hardest to win as well. We hv the Champions league final coming up in a few days: PSG VS INTER. These are relatively new teams(of course Inter is playing 2nd final in 3 years but still).  But I had a question hwo often does it happen that the winner retains the title and does that club perform on a similar level. Well we all know that Real Madrid have won three titles in a row in the seasons 2015-16, 2016-17 and 2017-18. We are going to look at the last 20 Champions league winners and see how teams fared next season. In the last 20 Champions League campaigns, Real Madrid have been the most successful club winning it on 6 occasions and the ONLY team to defend the title in the last 20 UCL campaigns when they did a 3 peat as mentioned earlier. In fact they are the ONLY club in the Champions League era(when it was renamed to Champions league from European Cup) to e...

Hidden Gems of 2025:Most underrated and overlooked players this season

INTRODUCTION- In a campaign packed with breathtaking goals, record-breaking statistics, and super-stardom controversy, it's easy to forget the unsung heroes—the players who don't grab the headlines but are indispensable every time they put on their boots. While the limelight remains glued to the typical superstars, there's a whole cast of footballers who've been putting in performances that deserve great accolades, yet go under the radar. These are the guys who don't always go viral on social media but without whom their team would be half as good. They make the hard tackles, set the pace, make intelligent passes, and open up space for the stars to sparkle. They might not chalk up crazy goal counts, but they add balance, brains, and grit to every game. Be it a full-back shutting down world-class wingers week in and week out, a midfielder who quietly dominates the match, or a striker who labors tirelessly off the ball—these underappreciated players are the pillars ...
